Playground fun

Tyson has been so patent the past few days while my parents and I painted the bricks in their new driveway. He made me promise him that when we finally finished, I would take him to the playground a few towns over. It's not one that we go to often, so it really was an extra special treat for him.

Treworgy Family Orchards

As much as I love summer and all that it has to offer, my heart is promised to fall. There is nothing like the sun shining on a crisp day, warm enough not to need a jacket and yet not hot enough to be scoping out the nearest AC unit. So far this fall has arrived with all of the rain we missed during the spring and summer. I had been keeping a close eye on the weather, trying to find the perfect day to head down the the Treworgy Family Orchards. We were unable to make it there last year due to my ongoing knee surgeries, but I was determined not to miss it there year. It was hard planing the day knowing that Jeff would not be there to enjoy it with us, but in his own words, "life has to be lived". After watching the weather for almost the entire month of September, we finally got a break in the rain and a Friday with no appointments. Knowing how much fun my parents had the last time we went, I invited them to join us. They seemed excited about it, and although we ended up leaving a bit later then expected, we arrived at the farm around 11am. The first thing we did was go through the corn maze. Tyson was so excited that it was a bunny this year. He has had a thing for bunnies since I read him the Velveteen Rabbit. He has one that looks almost identical to the one in the book, but he is forever on the lookout for an exact match. I think we now have 5 rabbits in his collection that are "almost" the prefect one. Anyway here is a photo of the maze from the air.

Although this one was much easier then the last maze we ventured through, it still took us almost an hour to make it all the way through. Tyson was determined to get his ticket punched at all of the stations so he could get his free ice cream at the end. Here are a few photos of our adventures from the inside.

After out adventure among the corn, it was time for a hay ride up to the barn where the ice cream was waiting to be licked and the goats were waiting to be fed.

The black one bit him, but Tyson was very understanding of his hunger.

After a nice lunch, it was time to get our ice cream, bid farewell to the goats and load up with apples.

After ending up with about 20lbs of apples due to Tyson's amazing picking abilities, it was time for one last hay ride around the entire farm before heading home.

We will be back to pick pumpkins before Halloween

Boston Aquarium

Before leaving Rode Island, we all took a trip into Boston to go to the aquarium. Tyson and I went there a few years ago, but this would be my mom's first visit, along with Ezme and Oliver. The babies had a great time, although I believe they enjoyed napping more then actually looking at all the sharks eyeballing them as their appetizer for the day.

Before this trip I have always stated that the chin strap penguin was my favorite of all the species, but now I have to admit I have been swayed to the smaller side. The aquarium was now home to a flock of Little Blue penguins and although they look like babies, they are full grown. A few were in the middle of a molt and were a bit more fluffy then normal, but this only added to their unique charm.

This photo I got from Google so you get a better idea of what they look like when they are not molting.

Here are some other photos from our day with the fish.
